Weaving aesthetic vision with practical skills and knowledge...

While working for her Fine Arts degree in interior design, Jacquelyn was vice president of the student American Society of Interior Designers. She went on to spend ten years doing contract and residential perspective renderings/interior design.

While employed as an award-winning Graphic Designer offered line drawings of homes for real estate companies. Realtors know to put their best foot forward to win clients. After all, would it make sense to advertise an upscale estate with bad or mediocre artwork? Quality illustration makes a statement about the builder, architect, and real estate agency. It reflects their own commitment to a project. The money invested in excellence of high caliber marketing tools is rewarded many times over.

Working from building plans or photographs, Jacquelyn created over 500 affordable, quality renderings to market property to prospective clients. These renderings were ideal for copying and scanning to create effective and appealing advertisements and brochures. Usually, realtors ordered two perspectives; one for the buyer and one for the seller. Clients benefited by not only getting a full set of beautiful renderings, but also by having a consistent style throughout their marketing materials.

Presently; due to time constraints and the focus on her fine art; Jacquelyn no longer illustrates line drawings for use in real estate advertising. She now concentrates on commissioned works of detailed 'home portraits' only. See details on pricing for home portraits listed below.

Pricing for home portraits...

Presently; due to time constraints and the focus on fine art; Ascender no longer takes on line drawings for real estate advertisements. She now concentrates on commissioned works of detailed 'home portraits' only. Commissions are currently priced around $150 (straight on view) to $225 (perspective view) for a 9" x 14" (image size) black and white tonal rendering; $300 (straight on view) to $500 (perspective view) in watercolor. Estate Homes 5000 sq. ft. or larger are priced slightly higher. The time taken to complete ranges from 75-hours to 250-hours; depending on the detail required.

All artwork is hand drawn by the artist; not computer-generated art. Nor is any work subcontracted to other artists. If you are commissioning a watercolor painting, write a short note giving details of color such as "slate-blue shutters", "mahogany door", "pink rose bushes along walk", etc.

These watercolor paintings are created from photographs. Take one primary overall photo of the building from your favorite angle. This will be the way your painting will be portrayed. Center the building fully within the frame of the camera's viewfinder. Try to shoot from the corner away from the garage. A small view of the side of the building is needed to achieve a two-point perspective. This will create a more dynamic composition. If you cannot get the entire building into one photo, take two; remaining in the same spot when you take them. Duplicating the center portion is desired. Try to photograph the building when the sun is shining on the front, not when the front of the house is in deep shadow. Additional photos of details, and close-ups are very helpful. If you desire architectural elements hidden behind bushes or trees there must be photos of these as well. There is no need to wait for bushes to grow. Landscaping and trees can be shifted, added, eliminated, enlarged, trimmed, etc. Shooting a photo of the house in the winter, without snow, gives a much clearer view of the property. Unless you desire a different season; your painting or drawing will always shows a spring or summer season.

Regular color or black and white photos – 4"x 6" size; work best. All photos will be returned. Turn-around time depends on the artist's backlog of orders; usually three to four weeks is necessary. Holiday orders start arriving by mid-year, so allow more time for them. Pictures of public building or historic sites are possible; if the photo is yours and not copyrighted material belonging to someone else.

All watercolor paintings are in permanent vibrant colors with pen and ink enhancement. All artwork comes double-matted and unframed. All commissions require a 50% deposit and balance due at delivery. Check or Money Order only. Satisfaction is guaranteed. If you don't care for the finished picture it must be returned by insured mail and received in perfect condition, not reproduced in any form. All artwork is property of Ascender© and may not be used for commercial purposes without permission.

Listed prices are based supplied plans, phone consultations, faxed rough and finished shipped work (hand delivered when possible).
