“I am suddenly left alone again on the sunny path, with a memory of the rain.”
— Azar Nafisi (Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books)
I can’t take too much credit for this painting. I did paint it but I found the canvas with a black and white underpainting already printed on it at the local thrift store for $4. The color key and paintings were missing but it was perfect for my purpose: to relight my creative spark.
It was my first try at using an underpainting; and I must say I do love the process and hope to challenge myself to paint using this technique in the future. I painted this in acrylics; whereas underpainting is usually done in oils and pastels. I am curious as to why not do this in acrylics.

It’s Memorial Day weekend. I think I will stick around locally; perhaps search for someplace local to hike. In spite of the lack of rain, we have grey cloud cover overhead daily.
No rain, little sun.
Very unusual.
Very frustrating.
